Yes,the installer will run a cable from the nearest phone point to the Sky boxes that need to be connected. If he say's you don't need it,take it from me,you do,The phone extensions will be stapled to the skirting boards, door frames.
You also need to ensure you have additional microfilters for the broadband to be fitted to the new extensions.Sky will not provide these.

You can find wireless phone extension kits on eBay for less than £30 most of the time. Search for something like "DECT Wireless Phone Extender". You need to ensure that the kit you're buying supports Sky - some extenders have been reported not to support Sky+ HD boxes (the Thomson models are the most problematic I believe with Pace, Samsung and Amstrad ones usually working fine).

I have a DECT system for my multiroom setup and no problems with it at all. It was preferable for me as I had Sky installed shortly before I began a massive renovating/redecorating of the property which involved the skirting being replaced.
  • thanks will have a look on ebay~ he didnt even question the phone line not being here when he installed it today x

Yeah, some of them don't care as at the end of the day it isn't their problem - it is the poor customer who will get hit with the warnings and then billed for two full subscriptions if their boxes aren't phoning home.

Of course, not all Sky installers are the same. I've dealt with some superb ones. The guy who installed my multiroom setup checked all my DECT units were working with the boxes before leaving, and he gave me a free remote to replace an old knackered one! :D

Hope you find a good deal on a wireless phone extender.
