Have never been to Lanzarote, but have been to Tenerife a few times and people said that was horrible. I imagine they are all very similar in style, so I shouldn't worry to much.0

I was allways put off for that reason!
BUT.... I spent 5 weeks there the xmas before one just gone and it was lovely!
I was in Tahiche which is just above costa teguise (its where Cesar manriques house is. , if you want to go to visit then the local bus stops just outside from costa teguise (cant remember no sorry) and its a lot cheaper than the tours.
costa teguise is laidback but has everything you need, i did go out one night but it was pretty quiet, ended up in a drag bar as was only place half full- worth going to just for the sheer horror, i was expecting glam and glizt not hinge and brackett?
that was just after new year though so expect people were recoving from hang overs etc.
otherwise though i found it fine, no way is it like blackpool, etc its quite small but large enough to have plenty of choice for food etc, if you ate in one a day for example it would take more than a month to get through them!!
the walk along the coast is good, takes you into the capital- airport is actually next to beach- i was gutted when we took off lol!
also local busses run from costa teguise to everywhere really, including the local sunday market. i did notice one of those "stop at the aloe vera sales pitch tours" you just paid entry etc to the volcanos and got a spanish breakie, didnt do one myself as was in a village villa so just chilled with kids a lot. i did go to the caves though-out of this world, deof reccommend it!!***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
I love Lanzarote - and am going later this year. I love it so much I have 3 timeshare weeks there which I bought voluntarily. You need a car to get round properly though there is a good bus service. Highlights for me: Volcano - well worth a visit, as is the visitor centre. Cesar Manrique's house built in lava field - very James Bond. Food - excellent nearly everywhere. Weather - fantastic. You can even get a ferry to Fuerteventura if you're bored from Playa blanca (my favorite spot). Wine, cheese, sunshine. In addition, costa teguise has the water park, but it might be too cold for that. Enjoy!0

hi
I visited costa tequise at the beginning of feb last year, i thought it was a nice place. We had decent weather and it was lovely and clean. Some bars were a bit quiet but some where packed and had a great atmosphere. We went for my mums 60th and we were expecting to send loads but found it was quite reasonable.
There were trips running and we were approached lots of times with people selling them. We ate out every night and went out for a proper brekkie every morning and i have to say that everyone was really impressed with the standard of food (and we were a gruop of 14 with some really fussy ones).March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
Hi
You will love Lanzarote. I have been twice and it's my favourite Canary Island. I have stayed in Costa Teguise and just outside Puerto del Carmen... Driving around the island is so easy and it really is the best way to see the Island. I love Plays Blanca too. So much to see. Not to sure about th weather this time of year as we went in May and July but I have been looking for a break in the sun and Lanzarote is top of my list.
Costa Teguise can be a little breezy and you may need to take something warm for the evenings. Lots of bargains in the electrical shops but you do need to bargain with them to get a good deal. There are quite a few lookie lookie guys trying to sell fake watches and poor quality jewellery.. Be pollite and keep walking.. Unless something appeals to you..
You will have fun in Lanzarote. I was worried the first time I went as someone said to me... O dear.. Lanzagrotty.. They probably never been..sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!0 -
hi like anywhere in europe have an explore
find a nice bar to drink in thats owned by a local not a brit
better atmosphere usually cheaper, and free crisps and nuts all night in my experience0 -
i went to playa blanca just after new year the weather was excellent and i found playa blanca charming, on the run from the airport i was looking out of the bus window an i was not very impressed with the scenery and must admit lanzagrotty did spring to mind.
i enjoyed the holiday and there was lots of great food and drink and lots of diving in playa blanca just got to shed the 1/2 stone i put on over the week0 -
Hi,
I went to Lanzarote a few years back and i am going again in March, havent been to Costa Teguise, although my brother and few mates did and they said it was good.
I was in Playa Blanca and the place was spot on, its not the most fast paced holiday your ever going to have, but the place is lovely, the restaurants and bars are all good and the weather is pretty decent all year round i think.
As someone has said the scenery when looking from the roads can look a bit dull and dreary but in my expeireance once your in the resort areas everything is nice and the beaches are good aswell.
If your looking for a quiet week in the sun with decent bars and restaurants im sure you will have a great time.
Have a good one0
