I have the 508, which is a step down from your 606, but I have a PS2 connected to it. My connection is more complicated than yours due to your Onkyo being better, but connect the PS2 to the reciever using component video cables (Like these which I got which work for both PS2 and PS3). I have to then connect via component to my TV, but if I'm correct, you shouldn't need to as it will sent the PS2 signal to your TV and upscale as well. You'll get a better picture via component cable too.

If it didn't make sense, this is the summary. Get this cable, connect PS2 to your 606, change Onkyo settings, done (with a pinch of "I think" since I don't have your exact model of receiver)

Oh, before I forget: change your PS2 console settings so it outputs the correct signal via component cable before connecting, else it will just be a blank screen with sound.
