Conformation email for purchase I didn't make

Didnt know where to put this but I have had a conformation email from an American company for a small purchase of a permanent coffee filter. Its my email address and my first name which is part of my email address anyway but the surname is 'oh'. The ship to and bill to addresses are the same, somewhere in los angeles.

I didnt reply to the email but I did look up the site and it just seems a regular small appliance and parts site on the net. It gives an order number that you can track the status but I didnt put that in to check in case it was some scam thing. It says if you have any questions about this order please reply to this mail or telephone the number that is also on the site

I was just a little concerned as I used my visa card for the first time with an American company just over a week ago, should I be concerned? I have checked my bank and nothing showing pending there so far. There are no bank details in the email

How can they make mistakes like this with my email address?

not a mistake, pure spam and trying to con you, they collect email addies through various means internet spiders etc and simply blast out thousands upon thousands of these...........sadly someone will fall for it and pay.

cannot answer that specifically as most is done automatically - it is spam all such are spam trying to get money from you, or getting your cc details or give your computer a virus.

DELETE DELETE DELETE!! I get them all the time, they are sent purely to get info off you and before you know it if you have clicked inside the email you have given them everything they need, ignore, delete and never click inside the link xxxx

Well I did click inside the link where it said click to track your order and then I was supposed to put in the order code but I didnt so hope its ok. It said in the mail too that another email will be sent once the order is dispatched

run norton antivirus or what ever anti virus software you have NOW. Better safe than sorry, Never click on anything in these emails just delete them.

Yes I know its a worry but nothing is showing pending yet but I will keep a close eye on things I'll do all the comp tests now and I have got spywareblaster, spybot, adaware, zone alarm free but I'm on win98, and avg antivirus that is up to date

I want to get a new computer but cant afford it just yet. Hope this one keeps going till I can. Hoping to be able to get one when vista has settled down and ironed out any teething probs
