Moving NEXT DOOR with sky talk and broadband

I am moving literally next door , same landlord just more suitable flat.
There is a phone line there , which had broadband on it. So... according to the woman on the phone I have to cancel my contract , reorder new package and wait up to 14 days to be reconnected!!!!
I am in the middle of exams , the most important time of my life so far.
I could just hide the router in the loft and still get my broadband !!
Anyone got any advice ........... Will I just have to succumb to the bureaucracy?
I am an orange customer , if i get mucked about i'll just bin sky....
Thanks folks

Perhaps you could clarify what you are on about???
You currently have Sky Talk and Broadband - is that correct?
Next door has a phone line and broadband - connected to whom?0 -
OK.... I am in a flat , say number 56 , I'm moving to 57... ok.
I have Sky talk & Broadband package, I'm maybe 5 months into contract (1yr)...ok
The flat I'm moving to has an active phone line , previous tenant had broadband (with who I do not know)
I would have thought (I know life is not logical) that it is a simple matter of someone at a computer switching off my line connection the day I move and at same time activating the new line next door....
What I have been told is that I will need to go through the process of cancelling my contract , reinstating my contract and in the process having to be disconnected for probably between 6-14 days.
I am hoping someone with some knowledge of a similar scenario might be able to tell me if I have to bow down to the orders or if there is like I suspect , a simple way .... ie someone changes one digit on my address profile and clicks two buttons ............
just hoping!

You are moving home-the fact that it's next door is immaterial. So as far as Sky goes you have to either cancel your contract (and pay an ETC) and sign up at the new address, or transfer your contract to the new address.
You can't just 'switch' a broadband account to another number in an instant, if the new line is already LLU'd to another ISP then you may have to go back to BT on a 12m line rental deal anyway-you can't easily transfer LLU to another LLU. or there could be tags on the existing line that delay any transfer process.
Hiding your router 'in the loft' is hardly going to work, as presumably you will have the phone disconnected when you leave the property, unless you want the incoming tenant to have the use of it at your expense? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
The are marker tags on everyones BBand line which identify who the provider is.When you inform them you are moving,Sky have to place a 'cease order' on your line with BT.Once the cease has been completed, then the line has to be re-provisionedon the new line.A BT Openreace engineer has to go to the exchange & physically jumper up the Tie Pairs that connect the network side to your 'phone' side.
The is no way around this & it cannot be done just by pushing a button.
HOWEVER,If the previous tennant at your new address has not cancelled their service when they left,or the BBand markers are still on the line, be prepared for delays.0
