Cheap internet while travelling in the USA

Do you know of a cheap USA internet service/3G which can be used for internet on a mobile phone while travelling there for about 2 weeks ?
Maybe a USA sim card which can be bought there for internet use ?

If you have to use 3g then if there are sims available, you need to check that your phone is not locked to your provider.

If your phone has wifi, then there are thousands of McDs offering free access, plus starbucks, plus many hotels/motels and even towns.

Do a google for the areas/towns you are visting.

The ony gsm mobile internet companies you have a choice of in the US are t-mobile and AT&T.

From what i've seen AT&T are pretty expensive for this short use. However T-mobile seem to offer a prepaid SIM that you can top up and activate. You can then make use of their $1.49 'web day pass' whereby you get unlimited access to their mobile internet service for 24 hours (probably only 2g).

I cant comment on how well it works, but it seems good value, i am to give it a try when i'm there.
