Orange EQ Virgin

I still have one of these accounts from the early 2000s. Orange invoice me monthly in arrears for calls at the rate that Virgin would charge. I believe this account is also known as OVP.

My query is whether these accounts are ever deactivated after a period of non-use. I have it in my mind that the SIM is cancelled if not used for 6 months. Just checking as I would not like to lose this valuable back-up account.

I have been looking for one of theses sims for ages, I don't suppose you would consider selling it?

You're thinking of payg acc's, where if there's no traiffic through the acc in 6 months they're suspended.

OVP's are contract acc's and, as long as you keep paying it'll never get closed.

Laudo; Orange will not do acc transfers on these, they want them off the system.
  • They've still got mine on the system and going strong :D

I once didn't use it for a period of around three months (six years ago) and that period of non-use didn't de-activate it.

I've had one of these when I switched from Orange to O2, wanting to keep my old number and move back after a year but never did so the sim was never used. I tried it in a phone a couple of months ago and it worked, so doesn't look like there is a cut off.

Must have had mine for getting on for ten years now, but rarely used it. The call charges are not very competitive; and until recently, when roam onto T-Mobile went live, I wasn't able to use it much anyway because there's no Orange coverage where I live.

I only keep the account going because it's free and offers free voicemail, allowing me to deposit voice messages directly into other Orange users voicemail. :T
