Best network for free calls?
                    Hi,
I am looking to change my mobile phone network. I am currently Pay as you Go with Vodafone which I chose as my daughter had a contract with them and for £5 a month they offer free calls to 3 Vodafone numbers. This has been ideal as my daughters (away at Uni) and I could ring each other anytime for free and do so often. The downside is the signal is not the best which can be frustrating.
I only use the mobile to talk to them, the occasional short call and texts. I top up around £10 a month, £5 of that is the fee.
Do you know of any other networks that offer a similar service.
Thanks

GiffGaff do free minutes to other GiffGaff users. And the tariff is much cheaper than for example Vodafone.0

Thank you. I'll look at that.0

Bear in mind GiifGaff run on o2's physical network, so you will get the same quality of signal you get with o2.
You get the free GiffGaff-GiffGaff calls (also free texts and video calls) as long as you top up every 3 months minimum. Their standard PAYG rate is 8p per minute and 4p per text. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Most of the networks have some kind of family or same-network group deal of some kind of other. If your daughters are currently in vodafone contracts, then you're probably going to need to stick to that network. If they use their phones more than you do, it's probably best to make sure they have the best deals/tariffs depending how they use their phone and what deals they want with what handsets, and then work out the best family/group deal that network offers.0

            Thanks for your replies.
My daughters contract has come to an end and we are all keen to move from vodaphone because of the network problems.
I have looked at GiffGaff and it would seem to be good. Just have to persuade my daughters to try it:). (Fickle youths who despite being poor are still able to raise 'never heard of it, stupid name, no one else has it':o0 -
If they'd prefer someone like T-mobile because they have funky adverts (sorry, you probably can't away with using the word funky with your children), then a cheap SIM-only route (like giffgaff would be) is available via this company:
http://www.chitterchatter.co.uk/sim_only_plan.php
You could then have a standard t-mobile PAYG SIM and instead of you paying a fiver to vodafone, get one of the girls to add £5/month family booster onto on of their SIM accounts - and just like Vodafone, calls texts and picture messages between 5 chosen family numbers are completely free. The only difference is, whilst PAYG accounts can be part of the family group, the £5 needs to be charged to a monthly bill.0 -
3 do free to 3 calls, and free calls via skype but check coverage 1st0
