Is it possible to apply for a Barclaycard in branch?
The reason for applying in branch is that I would like to get a response on the day. In general, I like to open financial products in branch instead of online, as I get to speak to someone.

It should be - and as you say you get to speak to somebody who can answer any questions you may have.0

I hope they do.
The reason I ask is that they are seperate companies in some sort of way.0 -
login to barclays website and it tells you if pre-approved0

Put your details in here:
https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/
This tells you immediately the likelihood of being approved for various Barclaycards based on your customer profile and credit file without leaving a "Footprint".

I know about that link, and put my detaisl on there, as I know it will generate other credit cards that I won't get.I am applying for the Initial card, as I have 'next to none' credit history. I earn £20k(ish) a year though.

If that says you stand a high chance of getting other cards you're assured an Initial -
That tool said I wasn't eligible for ANY cards the day I was approved for an Initial card with a four figure limit.
Barclays Branch personal bankers won't be able to tell you anything about your likelihood of being approved for a Barclaycard. They can't know until you've applied.
They can only tell you useful information about pre-approved offers, and IME even then it's a high chance they'll lie to you massaging your ears into applying for the highest commissioned products.
Good luck with your Initial application
EDIT: The Gold Card, for example, says you should have two credit commitments on your credit file. This doesn't mean Credit Cards, so if you have plenty of history with say, a bank account, mobile phone, and British Gas account, that fulfils that prerequisite.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I assume you are an existing Barclays customer with a bank account, or some other financial product? How did they score you, internal or external or both? How easy is it to get? Did you apply in branch?
Even though the tool won't leave a footprint, I won't still won't use it. I know the card I want, as I have read the 'eligibility criteria' for all the cards. By the looks of that website you posted, it will generate results based on one criteria which is the person's salary.0
