Exhaust mounting broken - what to do?
Hi all.
Over the past week or so, my car (Fiesta Mk6) has been bumping a bit too much for my liking when going over potholes or bumps (of which there are loads around here).
I had a look this morning and it appears the rear exhaust mount is broken behind the silencer. The rubber part is fine but the metal part has broken away from the silencer.
Is this a welding job or can you get a replacement clip like mount to replace the broken one?
Cheers.

get it welded back on,shouldnt cost much,if you try bodging it with clips etc you may put a strain on the whole systemI

This is probably true. I've also found that if you try to cobble something together with the various meccano-style bits you can pick up for the purpose, the lash-up tends not to last too long anyway.
Does the condition of the exhaust part its attached to merit the cost of a welded repair?0 -
Get a new box and pipe. If the bracket has rotted it's a fair bet that the pipe and box have too. Also might fail MOT if it's not done properly.0

Three options:
1) Get a wire coat hanger, straighten it out and use it to tie the exhaust to the rubber.
2) Get a big jubilee clip, undo it all the way, thread it through the rubber then round the exhaust and tighten it back up.
3) Alternatively, pay for someone to weld a bent bit of metal on.0 -
or
should cure your problem.

Having viewed the replies the only sensible/cost effective solution would be to buy a new rear box, unless you have a welding set, then:money::money:;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
