M&S have failed me....

I ordered some furniture from M&S for a bargain price. I checked the stock before ordering and there were plenty of items left. I also received an email confirmation of my order.
They have since emailed me with a 'woolly' explanation that they cannot fulfil my order because of a problem with their website, M&S have subsequently cancelled my order. I know others who purchased the same item but they have not had their order cancelled. The item is no longer available to purchase. I am annoyed because they showed the item as being in stock and I want it at the price they advertised. Is there anything I can do about this? (except stamp my feet in annoyance!)
Look forward to your comments.

If I were you I would post this message on another part of the forum where someone may be able to help with consumer issues, as this is a Grabbit forum. Good luck!Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0

Batesy it happened to me also last Christmas and left me in a bit of a mess as the item was to be a gift. Ive not bought on line from them since. Not that my action will make any difference to them its just I can't trust them!!0

Their online system does not have real-time stock levels.
Many of us on these boards have had our fingers burnt by this.
Their Terms & Conditions mean that they owe you nothing.
When I order from them (and I admit I still do, despite all the problems), I find it best to assume I won't get what I've ordered. That way if it arrives, I'm delighted, but not overly disappointed if it doesn't.0 -
This has happened to me before too grrr!!!! In fact, I had an order (all sale items) due to collect instore on Wed, went to get it yesterday and it's not there yet. !!!!!!! Tracked it and it says 'despatched' and then 'delivery attempted'!!! At a store????? Was there nobody there to receive it or something? The mind boggles. I really hope I get it as I will be very annoyed if I don't.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

This happened with the xmas hampers this christmas (see thread) with the advertised '30% off ALL sale items' which was then only given on some products (wonder how many people haven't realised they overpaid?!), and then again with this £1 chair (see thread) - which isn't the first time they've falsely advertised the chair at £1. The response I had when I emailed the CEO was unhelpful and basically rude, I replied with another email but never heard back again.
If I were you I'd stick to other companies who have far better customer service and leave M&S alone, that's my plan from now on0 -
This wouldn't happen to be chairs for a £1 would it?
Some offers are to good to be true. A shop is not seriously going to sell an item for £700 less that the start price even in a sale. There is no point in getting up tight and taking it so seriously.
Its great when you get a bargain but before you think you are getting the deal of the century please ask yourself the following question "IS IT TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" If the answer is yes then you probably won't get the deal.
There have been so many offers on the grabit board for thing at stupidly low prices and everytime people are quite in shock the company selling the item send an email cancelling their order.0 -
Sue them!!!!1!0

LMAO Sam
Yes I think your bob on, i do recognise the wording of the email for the chairs (yep I tried a punt as well).
I got the email, thought 'ah well' and got on with things.
Its just one of them things, you win some, you lose some, or did you genuinely believe that a chair for a few hundred quid each, was genuinely going to be reduced to £1 in the sale???
Move on, keep smilling, and keep your fingers crossed for the next glitch lol0 -
Well I ordered a Christmas Hamper expecting it to be delivered before Christmas to my Mum who was suffering from flu at the time and therefore unable to spend Xmas with us. I thought a hamper might help to cheer her up a bit and told her to expect it. Disappointingly, I was sent a cancellation email from M & S on Christmas Day! Unable to contact them being Xmas day, I was forced to order with John Lewis who happily did deliver albeit 5 days later! I've always been a loyal shopper with M&S however if I am reliant on a delivery, I will choose to shop elsewhere...just in case! My hamper was a full priced hamper not a discounted one or a glitch.
P.S. The £1 chair, never going to happen particularly with so so many people ordering it together! Worth a try though, hope for the best, expect the worst!Still just shrug your shoulders and wait for the next glitch to come on by is my best advice. I think it always shows how good a company is when things go wrong and how they handle it! If I worked for M&S I 'd definitely have one eye on this forum! :rotfl:
P.P.S. I didn't go for the £1 chair...just for the record!0 -
If this is about the £1 chairs then please get real!!!
Some glitches are too good to be true and 9/10 that is exactly what they are. If they are honoured great, if not.....move on and wait for the next glitch!
I love a glitch as much as anyone else but I am realistic and never EXPECT it to be honoured......that way I will not be disappointed.0
