    Good morning Drelise,

I'm sorry that you're being troubled by this.

As the balance is quite small of £11, I think it may be a good idea to have a word with us at E.ON if you haven't already. Have you got any sort of reference number/account number? Or do you know what the property the debt relates too?

I understand you say this isn't your debt, so we need to get this sorted out for you and we need to be contacting the correct people who the debt does belong to.

We do actually have a credit operations department, it may be best for them to have a look. But I'm always more than happy to help if you'd like me to.

    Thank you

    Helena

  • Dear eOn,

When I moved into my property I informed eOn , when I got the first letter addressed to "The Occupier" with the demand for £11, I was told not to worry by eOn as it was for before we moved in and did I have the previous tenants new address, I do not, but I was able to give the name, address and telephone number of the landlord.

When the next bill came, complete with, if you don't pay this now we will refer this to court. .. again eOn said sorry, yes we realise not your bill, so the next letter I got was from LCS, surprise, you sold the debt to them and then gave them my number, bravo.

I am hesitant to give any more personal details in this debacle for fear of them also being passed on to LCS and being harassed further!

Maybe eon could withdraw the account from LCS and give you some compensation for unnecessary harassment

Thank you very much for taking the time to come back to me, I appreciate that.

This really should be simple to sort out, we have a moving home team who can help and they may ask for your tenancy agreement as this will have your move in date on.

Did you take meter readings on your move in day and provide these to us? This would have been when you called us to set up your account.

Once we've got the info, we can arrange to correct the billing for you.

If you need me to help you, please just ask.

And maybe they should look into there entire policy of selling on debts of such piffling amounts in the first place.

It must cost more than the debt is worth to go through the whole process of selling it, chasing it, letters, calls, and all for 11 quid !!!!

  • Well LCS have sent a letter this time actually asking for money (£19.30 for EON). It says it is for 4th - 28th August 2015. The flat was occupied by a tenant until the 16th August so someone has their dates wrong somewhere. Well, as I have never agreed any contract with LCS and have no contract with EON, and seeing that all law is contract law, do they have any right to demand money from me (well, from the corporation that is my name in capital letters, that is)?

Isn't there an equivalent of OFT that can clamp down on these rogue agencies like LCS that harass people indiscriminately?

Yes, the organisation that replaced the OFT, the FCA.

They still show the notice that the OFT issued in 2009:
1st Locate (UK) Limited (Consumer Credit Licence Number 468413), registered office address:
    3 Leodis Court, LEEDS LS11 5JJ.
    The OFT require as follows:
    1) That 1st Locate (UK) Limited shall not require an individual to supply information to prove that they are not the debtor and shall not engage in any business practices that misleadingly suggest or imply that it is in the individual"s interests to supply such information.
    2) That 1st Locate (UK) Limited shall use only those trading names which are specified in its consumer credit licence.

Helena, I have a similar problem with EON having sent LCS after me to recover money for a bill that I am not responsible for. Would you be able to help with this?
