SazzleDazzles determined to have a new Sparkly Dazzling Life

Well after reading several diaries on here I thought that maybe instead of lying in bed every night thinking about ways of saving money or what I should be or could be doing maybe a diary would be a good way to get it off my chest. And then just maybe I could get to sleep before 2am instead of worrying and thinking.

Well a quick bit of background before the shut down for a few hours. I am 30 living in with my OH. I was superb with money till I went to Uni. Before that I used to have 2 - 3 jobs at the time, was constantly saving and paid for everything myself.
Uni wasnt a very happy time for me and it was when my depression started to become more frequent. As I didnt make many friends there I used to spend my spare time shopping which lead to all kinds of debt. I then brought a fairly new car on HP and ignored the such high interest level. Even though I had a good job whilst at Uni I was struggling.
When I moved back home I brought my first property and was doing ok for a little while. I then got a job in the city and started to overspend again, living a champagne life on beer money. I had to give up my job in the city due to unfore seen circumstances (no i wasnt sacked.) As it wasnt 100% my choice but my healths to change job I became depressed again and so the spending began again.

Now the depression is under control and I am working for myself (though at the mo that doesnt help the money worries) my spending seems to have stopped so there is a connection there.

I have never been a big spender ie buy expensive clothes. In fact I have rarely brought anything half price, but when the sales are on, or go to a certain large clothes store where things are normally under a tenner I will go and buy £100 worth, wear them once, hate them or they are bad quality and nver wear them again.
My OH is a bit of a want it now rather than save for it person. If its buy now pay later he is swayed in seconds.

Our life has to change as we need to get the deposit together for our house, clear all we owe so I can sleep again and start saving for a future.

So will update my diary daily with my often mad thoughts (yes I do spend a lot of time in the clouds) and the funny things that seem to happen to me (dont know why my friend seems to spend a lot of time laughing at me.):rotfl:

Right off to do at least another hours work on my business and half an hour on job no 3. One thing I never have been is work shy and will work till I drop to get things pad. Then off to take the gparents for coffee, which will prob mean a struggle, being asked at least twice by them where we are going as the memory isnt very good, and them then telling me that the coffee shop wasnt warm, chairs werent comfortable etc. Honestly enought to make me go stir crazy but love them all the same. ;)

See you all soon

  • Ok well surived my coffee trip today, wasnt as bad a I thought and only managed to have the same conversation three times ( I know I know one day I will be old and like that, well i feel old already and often get to the top of stairs and wonder why I am there.)
I offered to pay for the coffee and cakes but got told No so that was a free trip out.

Have been trying to work out a way to raise more cash in order to clear the first debt which is the Debenhams Card which is £700. This is the highest interest rate and i am thinking if I am at one at a time then I will do it.

Going to take my camera downstairs and keep it by the Ironing board, then as I go to iron something that doesnt fit, looks awful or too young for me I am going to take a picture of it. At the end of the ironing I will then go and put those items on ebay. So off for the first attempt before I make my dinner and get ready to go out. We are one piece of chicken short though as I left it to defrost on the side and the cat pinched it, does she not understand we are trying to get DF. Well she will do when she get half a bowl of food later as punishment.

  • You sound so motivated! The photographing things as you go along idea for eBay is great - I have a load of bits waiting to be photographed at the moment but the wretched daylight hasn't been good enough which means that the things are mounting up and turning into a *massive* job to be done, which in turn means I will procrastinate to an Olympic standard to avoid doing it! :D

Ways of making money - there are many - cashback sites, daily clicks, surveys are all good. Better still though is looking at where you can trim your current spending levels - then, as you gain money that you wouldn;t have had otherwise, put that to the debt. You're certainly right to be targetting the highest interest first too!

    Good luck!

I do vallued opinions, one poll (which seems to have been quiet recently) what do u find the best ones are?

Really annoyed with myself today. went out for OH family members bday
And had budgeted £50 but ended up spending £70. The only good thing is a
Few months ago I wouldn't have been bothered by it. All I have for the extra money is dull head.

Off to mums for lunch which saves a meal on my planner, though OH isn't too
Impressed as would rather be layin in a sorry state on sofa watching footie.

Catch up with the diary later if I survive an afternoon with my mums mad dogs.

  • Thanks JwLL.

Going to be a bad day today I think. Just taken one grandparent to doctor as unwell,
And have family friends funeral today. Have to open up for exercise class straight after
Funeral which means won't get much work done today so will be working late tomorrow.

On good note MIL gave me just over two thirds of a ltr bottle of barcardi, bad note is
Not drinking during week, and means she has noted how much I like the stuff
    Opppppsssssss.
Also given £10 petrol money for taking gparent to dr so will put that in tonight and
Will cover two days work petrol for OH.

Hope everyone is having a bettr day.

  • Well after the upside down day I had yesterday I have survived. Though my Gparent nearly didnt as continued to talk loudly through the funeral service to my nan, giving her a running commentry though out. He cant hear very well but continues to say "there is nothing wrong with my ears" whilst continuing to shout:rotfl:

Took my aggression at doing no DFW stuff yesterday out on my Zumba Class which really should be prescribed by the Doctor as the laughing really does pick you up.

Well its back to the money saving now. Determined today will be a NSD and having cake and tea for my lunch with the Gparents so thats lunch covered. Tonight is Chicken and Mushroom from the Jar that has been in the cupboard for the last 6 months, not sure why I even brought it as not one of our favourites ( as you can tell by the time it has been in the cupboard.)

Today am determined to work through after lunch till the evening and wont leave the office until I have got through my to do list. Really need to push on with my business but my confidence seems to have taken a knocking and I feel a bit unsure of things.

Need to check my surveys etc and take some more pics for ebay as need to earn some more money as getting panicky already about paying this months bills and not even pay day yet.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. ;)

  • Ever feeling that you are having one of those days when you feel the world is against you. Well that was my day today.

Got up went to my office in the house on time, and was just starting to turn laptop on when I noticed it started to load and then stopped. I tried several times but kept happening so in mad panic as I cant work without the laptop rushed it to the computer man, who says he can look at it tomorrow. Not so Great!! Then he delivers the worse knews that he thinks it may be the hard drive goes, great again as havent backed anything up fora long time, and that he may not be able to repair it. So now have the extra cost of a laptop to pay for and now dont know which one to get.

So in distress I ended up going to Mr W and buying a cake with lots of cream so bang goes the no spend day and the cut back on bad food.

Luckily MIL has leant me her laptop for a few days so at least can get back to work tomorrow but can access alot of the files that I need, I will learn to back up my work.

Think this is the first day that working out how to be DF hasnt been at the front of my mind. Took my anger out on all the filing I have done for months and am now so organised that when the new laptop arrives ( when I find the right one) I will be ready to go.

  • Phew Laptop could be repaired so didnt lose any of my work etc, only £50 that I shouldnt be spending but much better than spending £350 on a new laptop.

Earnt an extra £40 today from job number 2 and will get paid from job no 3 tonight.

Used my £10 voucher from Mr T in order to buy shopping which means I can now transfer £10 from account to Debs account in order to start clearing that one.

Pay day for OH today so need to take a look at finances, do all the moving about and make sure we can get through the month. As normal cos its payday he is thinking of things he can do to spend the money that we dont really have and has suggested dinner out on Sat night which is lovely, but I would rather have a meal at home and save the cash as I dont enjoy the meal as spend my time worrying about how much it cost. does anyone else feel like that??
