What is your favorite ski resort in Europe? I would like to go 1st week of April for 6 days. My budget is £1200 for 2 people, including travel expenses.

Depends what you are looking for. If it is out and out quality of ski-ing I'd recommend some of the French mega resorts - my favourite would be the Espace Killy ski-ing area http://www.espacekilly.com/ You could ski there for a whole week and not cover anywhere near all the runs.0

How well can you ski?
What kinds of run do you prefer?
On piste or off piste?
Do you want lively nightlife
etc etc etc
The point is there is no 'best ski resort in Europe', It completely depends on what you're looking for.0 -
These are good questions. I am not a good skier. I like easy runs. I wouldn't ski everyday, maybe a few mornings. I would be going there with my mother. She is old and I think she will enjoy the mountains. We would like to be able to shop, rest and go to nice restaurants. I am looking for a village that has to offer something, it's not so much about the ski experience.0

April is quite late so you ought to aim high really. Austria is very pretty with lovely towns for non-skiers. I like St Anton which is a great ski area. You really want a nice comfortable hotel with nice views so your Mum can sit and relax without going far.0

As stated, don't think the resort is as important as the following:
A hiigh altitude resort so there is still plenty of snow in April
A traditional and established resort - these tend to have better 'pottering' shops - ie artsy/crafty etc and have better food restaurants/cafes/bistros/coffee shops etc, and are more visually attractive. The modern purpose built resorts can be 'concrete jungles' and not that attractive.
Also look for a resort with gentle walks/strolls/activities abvailable close to your chalet/hotel.
Possibly also look for ones that have cheap 'non ski' day lift passes, to enable your mum to experience the stunning views from up the mountain (bigger resorts have decent cafes/bars - even shops, halfway up the slopes, so she could go up and experience the breathtaking views and maybe meet you for lunch?)
Just do plenty of googling!

Thanks Olias! These are great ideas. I am going to do more search, but am still open to more location ideas.0

I'm not sure how the snow is in April, but I love going to Courchevel in France. Its one of the three valley resorts and has lots on offer not just the skiing. We stay in the cheaper village/town of La Tania! PM me if you want more info

It was actually one of the ski resorts I was looking at for France. Do you know about Meribel? I think they are right next to each other.0 -
TIGNES, TIGNES, TIGNES!
This is the Espace Killy area another poster mentioned.
It's a very high resort and also has a glacier in case the snow has melted!
I've been twice now and it's great for snowboarding and skiing.. love it there!9/70lbs to lose

I wouldn't rate Meribel - very expensive and not much of a vibe (though I guess if you are taking your mum, you are not looking for a particularly vibey place!!)
I really liked La Rosiere and Sauze D'oulx. Deux Alpe was also pretty good.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
