Switching PAYG Provider

Currently on PAYG O2 - £10 p/m gets 300 texts and 500mb Data Allowance.

O2 is quite poor in my area, so want to switch to Orange/Vodafone/T-Mobile that has the same/similar allowances.

Is it as easy as getting the right SIM for this and putting it in the phone? And where would I get this SIM?

I just need to be able to view/hear my remaining data and text allowance for the month easily as I share the phone and like to check regularly how much is remaining for the month.

Thanks for any pointers.

Decide what network you want and order sim card on line or in shop .

If your current phone is locked to a network you will need to get it unlocked .

That simple? O2 won't chase if I take the SIM out and not top up again? A silly question maybe.

Looking at packages online and not all clear. Orange Dolphin says just 100mb a month allowance.

Phone is unlocked, so not an issue there :)

One last point, you have states the main network operators, dont forget the virtual networks, eg Asda (voda), Virgin (T-mob) they often offer a slightly better deal than the network itself.

Make sure you use up all you credit cos you wont get that back either....

    Enjoy
  • IMHO - Tesco has best deal at the moment - 500 minutes, unlimited [probably 3000] texts and 500mb internet for £10 per month PAYG. I rang my provider Virgin and they equalled it but at least 1gb internet for £10-23 [VAT increase]

I'd suggest giffgaff normally, but with a poor o2 signal they're not a good choice in your case.

If you cant get a decent o2 signal then dont use Tesco or Giff-gaff. Daft as it sounds if you cant get o2, are you sure the other networks will offer you a better signal? You may be jumping into a worse situation. Go online and get free SIM cards for all networks, then go play with your signal indicator bar.

    Good luck.
