yes the length of service would be affected - but you would have had redundancy for anything prior to the 28 days any way.... (it would be too unfair if you could have the same 5 years twice plus anything else accrued)...

and if we rejoin the pension scheme and were on the old to start you can rejoin within 12 months i think...

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

I am fairly sure that 28 days period will force you onto the newish pension scheme, rather than the final salery one - which the government will probably take anyway. Suspec it will also affect your length of employment to the NHS including holidays, so you will effectively be starting as a new person. You may not be able to come back as an employee, but are able to come back as a contractor :)

Neither pension scheme is final salary.

Both use a calculation(different in each) based on income in a period before retirement not the final salary.

Not followed the current rules but before the choices scheme you could return to the old scheme even with a 5 years break.

One advantage of staying in the old scheme is the early retirement options if they apply(special status) and that you can join the new scheme 2 years after retiring in the old scheme.

also the retirement age on the old scheme is 60, and is 65 in the new scheme...

I am seriously hoping for redundancy although my trust claim they won't offer any redundancies....i hope it will change after the next financial year starts and the scottish elections. I am currently without a substantive post and won't be redeployed until I finish my mat leave, but since hubby and I dream of Oz the redundancy money would pay for the move as I'm not sure the 10k I have will cover it.

My question is though would they take my mat leave off any redundancy settlement or could I get both? Moot point presently since they're sticking to their guns re not offering redundancy but good to be prepared if it came up.

    thanks in anticipation
