Hi, Hoping someone can help,
I was divorced in august & due to leave the family home in November, unfortunately my ex wife suffered a brain aneurysm on 1st November & is in hospital. I am looking after the 3 children 9,13 & 15.
I applied for the working/child tax credits & child benefit to be put into my name on 17th Nov, despite several phone calls to both agencys i have still not received a penny, all i get is sorry, the system says blah blah.
I am my wits end & have even written to the PM (no response there, what a shock) I am working full time & juggling the kids, bringing home £950 pm,paying the mortgage, bills etc, what do i have to do?
Thanks in anticipation

You might try contacting your local tax office building and enquire about an emergency payment. I know from personal experience that CTC are VERY quick to stop payments, and VERY slow to start them up againOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

I would speak to your local council about Council Tax Benefit as well.I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
All views expressed in my posts are my own opinions and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.0 -
Was there an existing claim from before yourself and your wife were splitting up? If so, this claim needs to be stopped before your new claim goes ahead.0

Both claims were in my ex wifes name, i applied for them them to be put into my name/bank.0

That may be your problem. I think they'll need your wife to stop her claim for CB/CTC before you can put it in your name. Is this possible?0 -
No not at all, her prognosis is not good at all0
