OMG. whats up with a notebook and a pencil. All that app rubbish is delaying tactics to make you think you are doing something when you are not. And no....Im not 75!

Or, it's the one thing we almost always have on our person, even at a vending machine or anywhere else for that matter, when we might not have a notebook and pencil.

It works for some people but might not be right for you, what's wrong with that?!
Can we pretend that aeroplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars, cause I could really use a wish right now...
  • Or perhaps it should be an android app for all those very sensible MSEers who have got a San Francisco on PAYG using cashback sites to buy it for virtually nothing! ;)

I'm not one of them but would love an MSE app for my android phone (which is on an affordable contract and involved no initial outlay).

My wish list for an MSE app:
Ability to track several back accounts and credit cards
Reminders for due dates of cards and bills
Reminders for when 0% deals expire
    Spending diary
    Ability to categorise spending
Graph type facility to show you how much you spend on each category
Graph type facility to show actual spending against budget

Think it would be amazing to have an MSE app, and it could help fund MSE's activities if there was a small charge for the full extended version.

Also to add from the MSE site:

the Demotivator (good reference when you're tempted by that starbucks / bottle of wine!)
    Budget Planner
  • The demotivator could be a separate app all by itself - could be very successful!

Reading through these posts (and arguing with friends) I see the point in which people say that an iPhone saves time money, lets them do multiple things at once etc.. i really do understand the luxury of having these things.

However, I've had my Sony Ericsson K810i for about 3 years now (it's almost at deaths door) but the other day I came across a site that explained how to access e-mails, you tube, download a new/faster browser, I've even got google maps for it!!

Ok whilst it doesn't have a touch screen or any cool games (unless you class Sega Tennis) it does a good 75% of what an iPhone does. Best of all it costs £30 on e-bay!

In the meantime I use a filofax for recording spend and charting out amounts. And yes I am too young to remember when they were fashionable!
    Today's Debt:
    B/Card = £6,410 F/D = £3,190
    Loan = £0 Woohoo!
    Total Debt = £9500
    Debt as of 26-1-11:
    Total Debt = £14,325

It's two additional items that I would have to carry around with me.

My iPhone *IS* my notebook and pencil.

As a software developer, the iPhone is where the money is.

For now, Android is only an afterthought for most developers.

Or not according to this article...

  • Ah but chances are if you want an MSE app you are more likely to have an android phone because iphones are so difficult to get on cheap contracts and for many represent poor value for money as you can get the same functionality much cheaper on android.

DOn't forget that lots of people on this site aren't skint or in debt, they are just interested in good deals and bargains.

My iphone 3GS was bought secondhand from a colleague who was upgrading to the iphone 4. I run it on a £10 PAYG deal, which is the same price as my old phone. I would never go back to the old style of phone - I can do so much on it, from my grocery shopping to taking audio notes to making my life just that bit more organised, which I'm eternally grateful for as a full-time working mum.

I too would like to know if MSE is planning any apps. The demotivator is a great idea.
