Just had a Council Tax Final Warning, lots of red print, threatening court action! I was late paying my last payment for the year! Apparently this automatically generates a threatening letter, court action could follow! Wow, seventeen years of straight payment, and I deserve to be treated like a criminal, less than two weeks late paying. As I am still receiving Xmas Cards, I guess I should be glad to get a threatening letter delivered within two days! Wonder how many pensioners are quaking in their boots, I would guess many would be unable to get out to make payments! But this is OK, it is all generated by computer, so no one is at fault! No matter that I have been unable to get to work for a week because the roads were not cleared, the pavement has only just become usable, not because they were cleared. The weather has just gotten warmer. My bins have not been emptied on time! Am I being ridiculous, yes, normally I am very tolerant, no-one could have foreseen the bad weather or its effects, but I am being chased for payment for services that have not been delivered on time. Late delivery of service, I should be understanding, late payment, I should be made to feel like a criminal. Wonder who pays for the council.
On the same note my dentist recently decided to stop taking NHS patients, fine, but having told me that I had to go private, I get a letter giving me a very hard line on missing appointments, how I would have to pay for the appointment, regardless of circumstances. No matter that I am their customer, or that over the years I have spent many fruitless hours sitting in their waiting room. I suspect because they never allow a reasonable amount of time for an examination. Surely this should work both ways, they should pay me for wasted time! I know who would be making a profit!

Ah, the joys of a well set-out and nicely-paragraphed post...0

Pay your council tax with a direct debit, and don't miss dentist appointments. Problem solved.0

To be fair, I'm not sure you're deemed a 'customer' of the council when it comes to paying tax! If you cancel a dental appt with good notice (i.e. 24 hours or more) you won't have to pay. And if you can't make it because you're ill and you only became ill that day, no doubt you won't have to pay either. So it's not really the draconian measures you fear."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Pay your bills on time for the next 17 years and you wont get any red letters..!!"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

I am certainly not arrogant enough to think that I am always right, as a customer, but I do do a very good bluff on occasion.:D0

Dont fall out with your dentist. You'll regret it before he/she does.0
