probably state road as in looking in direction of travel that implied that they have scratched wheels either side of the car

was it taken away on a low loads in which case i would point the finger at the rachet straps they put round the wheels or did they drive it off

was it wet and the guy was in a rush so he didnt put the protective sponges under the straps

It was driven away and I'm assuming that's where the additional 80 miles has come from. I really wish I could post the photograph so that you could see but seem to be having a problem :o
  • I just wonder whether it would be pristine if you were the next buyer.....
People tend to do repairs to lease cars on the cheap.

It doesn't have to be returned pristine - it has to be returned in a used condition.

I returned it in a pristine condition because I wouldn't expect anything less - and for what it's worth I don't consider a £500 bill 'cheap'.
  • they try it with companies too! i worked for a contractor to a water company we had lease vans, whe we had ours upgraded they took it back from south wales to chesire by driving, two weeks later we were called into the office, the lease company said there were excess mileage (16000 miles and they were supposed to go back but when you called for them to exchange due to mileage they had WE HAVE NO STOCK excuse) ours had 55.000 on it when it went back, they claimed it had front end damage,PS wing, PS door, front grille, front bumper, windscreen chipped/cracked, rear cab door handel snapped, interior dashboured cracked, bonnet dented/scratched, external wing trims missing, front headlamps broken/notworking, rear cab doors dented, rear bumper cracked/dented and mileage was 55,800 odd. total of £5,690 worth of damage.

me and my supervisor laughed, we had taken photo's on our digi cam time, date of the van 10 mins before the hand over (company policy to do so) according to check sheet time! van was clean and prestine in and out. i went out proved van wasnt as they say it was, manager went off to make a call, came back and said they had made a mistake! a van of similar reg was rear ended in a accident and shunted into oncoming traffic in manchester?

we had changed lease companies not long after and all vans still under the old co's lease were photo'd and sent back and they still tried it on!

I dont know either of thse companies, but would hazard a guess that 'total vehicle solutions' are a vehicle movement comapny used by Jet. they could have well caused this damage - we used vehicle movements companies and i must admit, most of them are cowboys who dont hold the correct licences!
The opposite of what you know...is also true

Was the car driven away or taken on a loader, perhaps if on a loader, the wheel restrainers/ropes/whatever they are called have damaged the wheel.

I had a similar problem with returning a car to the finance company who tried to charge for the air conditioning unit not working, I told them it didn't work from day one, when I bought it from the garage(was an older car not new), they still wanted the money, and I basically challenged them and asked for the vehicle report from the dealer who arranged the finance to say that everything on the car worked, they didn't come back to me after this, when I then spoke to the dealer they had actually stopped using the financial company because of the problems they were having, what does that tell you for the customer.

Hope this helps and you get it sorted out.
