When I had a courtesy car back in 2009 I went over the car before I took it and photographed all the damage using a digital camera.

When I took it back a different bloke tried to say i had done this and that, I produced my camera and showed him the photos, he went a bit red and said, oops my mistake.

I feel totally naive as the form they arrived with already has a check box giving detail of being unable to check the vehicle - either 'Dirty' or 'Wet'. They ticked wet and the form was signed in good faith as I had no reason to believe they would pull a stunt like this.

I'm kicking myself now that I didn't take photographs as the fact that they are now saying it was a poor repair and not damage is really annoying. I know, as does my repairer, that the wheels were spotless and the pictures Mercedes have sent clearly show scratches that were not there when it left me.
  • probably find the photos of the imaginary damaged wheels wont actually be of your car

I agree - I don't think it's my wheels either - same tyres, Continental, but that's not unusual for Mercedes.

Also, can anyone tell me what Road Fron LH and Road Front RH means? This is what they have quoted as being damaged.

Often the ops staff will be under pressure from management as well to recharge every bit of damage, to keep the vehicle looking new for as long as possible. In my experience at my last job, the customers who persistanty said no, and dug their heels in, we gave up chasing a recharge in the end. Often staff will have no idea if it is you that has caused damage, their own drivers or even the hirer before you. I would definately tell them to f*ck rite off! I hope you get this sorted darling. YOu are well within your rights to send your own estimator in there to view the 'damage' - but if it i was me, i wouldnt even bother doing that i would be point blank with them

LH AND RH would interpret to me as left hand and right hand - this means nothing depending to anyone on which way you view the car - ask them if they mean OS or NS, offside or nearside. What company is this sue, they really do sound like a right load of bandits!

  • probably state road as in looking in direction of travel that implied that they have scratched wheels either side of the car

was it taken away on a low loads in which case i would point the finger at the rachet straps they put round the wheels or did they drive it off

was it wet and the guy was in a rush so he didnt put the protective sponges under the straps
