I will use the bolded text as ammo for future rover posts as proofwe had a rover where bits were always falling to bits, breaking and shearing off.
i managed to fix the maf sensor, the electric windows when they fell in the door, the heater resistor, the reversing sensor, the clock, the turbo pipes........oh how i miss it.
i do know how to fix cars as my family ran on a break fix system with cortinas, stradas and cavaliers lol0 -

It was a decent car when it worked, 2.0 Turbo D which could move it along nicely.
The problem with mine was the sheer quantity of things that went wrong. I was sorry to see her traded but it got to the point where I was fixing it weekly by buying bits on Fleabay.
I bought it for 800 and it lasted me 6 months and then I got 600 trade in which means it pretty much paid for itself. If it had to go to the garage with each thing that went wrong it would've cost thousands."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Had a similar problem on my old Mondeo, turned out to be the exhaust working its way loose on the mountings, so every time you hit a speed bump or a pothole, or even just a bit of road vibration it would clunk and bang - sounded horrific.
Kwikfit, for all their faults, tightened it up for me for free.0 -
was it quikfit that left it loose0

Yes, it was an L series engine which have a very good repuation for mpg, power and reliability.
The engine was good, the car feel apart around it.
It did give 55mpg though but at the end was leaking diesel from number 3 injector so was doing about 20mpg."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
