Right I am posting on here, as don't know where else to post..
My question is just rushed in to take out a policy with warranty direct for my car, but for the first time ever I had not researched the company and seen some bad reviews, just wondered if anyone has had any dealings with this company or should I cancel as I have 30 days and go to a different company.
Nice one.

A friend of mine did exactly the same thing and then canceled. It seems as with any warranty company that they will fight you all the way and claim that most problems result from wear and tear and are therefor not covered. I've no doubt that some people have some good words to say about them, but I'd rather put the money I'm not paying them into a savings account and hope any problems arise will be covered by that.
Most people tend to say that if its not a manufactures warranty then its useless and even those are a pain with some dealers.
How old is the car i suppose comes into it also, the older it is the less they're likely to cover.0 -

I purchased the car last week, its a 2005 but only got 6 month warranty on it..0 -
It will exclude wear and tear items which on a 5 year old car will be virtually everything.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Star Fire, the RAC do decent warranties mate. I've had to claim several times on different cars and they always come through and fix / pay no problem."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

I checked there policy not sure if it was there only one and i clearly noticed that it didn't include wear and tear. Now what components on a car do 'Not' suffer from Wear & Tear and general degredation.
This is why I have yet to buy a warranty as after reading various reviews for the multitude of companies out there they all seem hell bent on not coughing up for legitimate claims.
One review i've read about, the leading warranty company WD, even when a vehicle's fault has been diagnosed by BMW they seem intent on sending there 'expert' out to visually assess the issues. Causing unnecessary delays they argue to toss about paying for a genuine claim.
Also check the 'indpendant' repair centres, the usual comments from reviewers are very poor indeed.
I might save any money i was considering spending on a warranty and bite the bullet should something happen. With careful servicing and maintenance you should minimise the risk regardless.
I've recently bought a 6 year old high end BMW so although repair bills will be high any initial niggles with the car will have been sorted under the original warranty, worth bearing in mind.
Also as i suggested to the Call centre chappie who rang me regarding warranty direct and in response to there 'good reviews' on 'Honest John', well Warrantty direct sponsor the web site so doubtful they would be adding adverse reviews.
If anyone knows of a comprehensive level of cover from either RAC or AA that includes 'Wear & Tear' please let us know.0 -
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but WD's website has a dedicated page on wear and tear and they say they do include w&t....http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/wear.html
Is this a lie, or a new thing since OP's experience?
If WD are dodgy, does anyone have any recommendations for used car warranties? I'm getting hold of a 9 year old Skoda Fabia with 60k....0 -
Just save money for repairs - used car warranties are a rip off.0

I could say that buildings insurance is a "rip off" because I've paid thousands over the decades yet never received a penny back.
My car warranties have more than paid for themselves.
They are a type of insurance policy, so it's a personal choice depending on the attitude to risk. There are some poor warranties about, and for some older cars it's simply not worth getting a warranty, but a good warranty is worth paying for, IMO.
I have had a good experience with MB&G, although they don't sell direct. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Rather than give money to warranty direct, just send your money to me and I will spend it all on alcohol, giving you nothing in return.
The result will be exactly the same for you, only you will need to make fewer phone calls before finding that out, and I get beer. Everybody wins.
(Or just shove it in an easy access ISA or something)0
