Hi all, can you help?
We have had to buy a cheap car this month as ours broke down and we couldn't manage without. Also been helping my SIL and niece who left her partner (not a nice man putting it mildly!!) by buying things for her house.
Long story short it has left us with no money until hubby gets paid. Can anyone give me some cheap meals I can do for 6 of us??

OK here are the basics I think I have in the cupboard etc:
Flour (Plain & Self Raising)
About 250g butter
Milk
Eggs (8)
Leftover bits of cheese from xmas
crackers
3 loaves bread
4 frozen burgers (looks like raw mince burgers)
sml pack mince
carton passata
tin of beans
mushy peas
potatoes (new and 4 x jackets)
Enough fruit and biscuits for packed lunches
fishfingers
frozen veg (peas/sweetcorn)
some random bits of frozen fish
yorkshire pudding batter
stewing steak (only about 10 cubes)
gravy granules
I have herbs and spices that I use all the time. I'm quite lucky as my mum brought us round a bag full of random food she had knocking around (good old mum!!!).0 -
Here's a few idea's - we are in the same boat so hope I can help!
Mince and Tatties – Use Mince (maybe add in the tin of beans), 450ml gravy, add in 2 tbs peas and 2 tbs sweetcorn, and make some mash.
Mashed burger in Yorkshire Pudding batter – Self explanatory really, serve with peas and sweetcorn
Steak Pie
Fish fingers, mash and frozen veg
Eggy Bread
Fish Pie with homemade pastry using the fishfingers and random bits of fish0 -

I would never have thought of doing that!!! Thanks for the list of suggestions I'm feeling much more positive now. I must learn to think in a more creative way I think x0 -
pancakes...
potatoe wedges, cut potatoes into six or 8 depending on size, boil for 3 mins, put drained potatoes in plastic bag with 2 tbsn oil and some salt (and paprica if liked) then in 220 degree oven for half an hour, with the fish fingers and peas
fried egg and potatoe wedges... yum
all the best

It's a little bit random but when desperate, you think of the most odd dinners!
Can also make your own "mix" with the flour and eggs and save the ready mix batter for some cheap sausages or bacon?0 -
The fish and eggs would make a great fish pie topped with mashed potato and a sprinkling of grated cheese.
You could defrost the burgers, mush them up with breadcrumbs so they go further (and maybe the mince) then divide into meatballs cooked in the oven in the passata and garlic.
Spanish omelette using some of the potatoes, veg and eggs.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Do you have a spare £5 or some vouchers you could use? Do the meals have to include breakfast and lunches or just evening meal?0

Don't panic
Flour (Plain & Self Raising)
About 250g butter
Milk
Eggs (8)
Leftover bits of cheese from xmas = quiche or a double crust cheese pie, omelettes, frittata or how about HM Pizza using the passata as the tomato base and add the cheese grated plus topping of choice
crackers
3 loaves bread=sweet or savoury bread and butter pudding
4 frozen burgers (looks like raw mince burgers) chop up add some baked beans and frozen veg and make a burger casserole
sml pack mince= mince and tatties with lots of veggies added to stretch it out
carton passata
tin of beans
mushy peas
potatoes (new and 4 x jackets)
Enough fruit and biscuits for packed lunches
fishfingers = fishfingers and HM wedges
frozen veg (peas/sweetcorn) = HM soup
some random bits of frozen fish = fish pie or mix with mash to make fishcakes
yorkshire pudding batter = savoury or sweet pancakes, yorkshire pudding, sausage toad
stewing steak (only about 10 cubes) = steak and veg pie or pasties
gravy granules
I have herbs and spices that I use all the time. I'm quite lucky as my mum brought us round a bag full of random food she had knocking around (good old mum!!!).
