free digital channels

Dreambox....I came across this while looking for free n cheap digital tv. Does anyone know how it works n what channels u actually get with it?

As it is not a service provider in itself (like Sky, Freesat, Freeview etc.) you don't get technically get any channels with it.

What you do get is a user-unfriendly, mini-computer in set-top-box form that allows you to use it as a PVR (some models), connect it to wired or wireless networks, use it as a media server etc. and is based on a Linux operating system. There are satellite and cable versions.

However, the true use for Dreamboxes is to access other content not available on Sky's platform (I've no idea what people use the cable version for) and really it is for "enthusiasts" who are interested in accessing content from other satellites and generally have motorised dishes (or more than one dish) in order to switch between satellites. Apparently the box can also be setup to do illegal things related to Sky's operation but I'm not about to start discussing that here, nor am I familiar with this form of operation anyway.

I, personally, have never used one but all of the information I have seen previously have basically said that you need to learn how to use the Linux operating system that is built into the unit and spend a lot of your time working out how things work with the box itself before you can even hope to get it working in a satisfactory way. It is not a box that allows you to unpack, plug in and go.

If you're looking for cheap or free digital TV then I would suggest taking a look at the more well-known services - Freeview, Freesat or Freesat from Sky.

Basically you just add some motorized dishes and you can pick up all fta channels in europe and as far as mid east and africa.You can also use its cam slot for viewing sub channels in europe by purchasing the relevant subscription card.
