Need a little help re: What's on TV win UPDATE

Just to update - had an email from the lovely people at Jelly Belly and they are sending my mum her £250 Jelly Belly hamper after What's on TV/IPC Media telling her she was the winner, then saying it was an error and she'd won a £10 box of jelly beans instead! Mum is very happy and the people/customer service at Jelly Belly is amazing - shame we can't say the same about the people at IPC Media though.

My mum started comping last year through mse - she's not much of a poster on here but loves coming in and having a read through all the I won posts. She's a bit too shy (and worried about her spelling and grammer) to come here and ask for help so I said I would..

She received a WEM from What's on TV on Wednesday afternoon from What's on TV to say she had won A Jelly Belly Jelly Beans hamper worth £250. Now, my mum's not been very lucky since she started comping and was reduced to tears at the thought of a big win (it's massive to her) The grandkids were all round at the time and went on to the What's on TV Jelly Belly comp page to look through all the goodies she had won and were playfully arguing over what they were each having out of it (as kids do lol) -Then on Thursday morning she received an email that said

"Please note there has been a slight admin error when sending these prize details out. However don't worry you are still one of our lucky Jelly Belly winners and have in fact won a Jelly Belly Jelly Beans flavour gift box.

Once again congratulations on becoming a winner with What's on TV and apologies for this error."

She was devestated and hasn't had the heart to mention it to the grandkids. It's just awful the way they sent an email to say a 'slight admin error' - a £250 hamper or a £10 box of sweets is more than just slight. She tried emailing them but they weren't interested and didn't get anywhere.

Just wondered if there is anything we can do? Mum is so upset, she's really losing faith in everything at the moment and after recently retiring this was the happiest I had seen her for ages.

Thats terrible! If i was you i would ring them and ask to speak to a manager and explain how much upset this has caused your mum,and say that you find it unfair, they cant say you are a winner then take it away from you! Good luck,dont let them get away with it!!.

disgusting to be honest ring and explain to them the excitement of all the kids and hopefully they should rectify their eroor

Thanks for the replies, wrote them a wordy email explaining everything to them but again, they just said it was a genuine admin error - their email was full of typos which was annoying - maybe they need to look into their admin a bit better!! We've written an email to Jelly Belly themselves, we had a contact for them for in case there was a problem with prize so thought this might be a good idea. The annoying thing is though, my mums name was up on the what's on tv website with 'jelly belly jelly beans hamper winner' next to it so I have no idea why they have changed their minds (I have a screenshot of this as my mums was proud of herself lol) but they have since changed it. Thanks again for getting back to me xx

Hopefully they will honor it, if not, I hope your mum wins an even bigger and better prize!!! I will have my fingers crossed for her!
Also tell her not to worry about her spelling or grammer....Ive got a spelling mistake in my user name, and everyone has been far too nice to mention itt!!! hahahahaha

If it was an admin error tell them that their admin department should stand the cost of issuing you with the correct prize that you were awarded.

Sometimes i hate big companies because they just treat you like you are nothing.

tell your Mum not to give up, not all companies are the same

Try contacting the ISP/ASA etc and don't stop pestering What's On TV until you get your prize. You could write to the CEO if you can find their contact details. Go as high up in the company as you can because low-level little jobsworths just don't have the authority to rectify the situation
