    Hi wannasavemoney,

There's an older thread that should help with some recipes so I've added your thread to it to keep all the replies together.

i use this recipe and they come out really light and fluffy
    4oz/125g self raising flour
    2.5ml/ 1/2 teaspoon of salt
    10ml/ 2 teaspoons of butter
15ml/ 1 tablespoon of choppred fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons of dried (optional)
    50-75ml/2-3 fl oz of milk

sift the flour and salt together. Rub in the butter, then stir in the parsley add enough milk to make a soft dough. Drop heaped tablespoons of the dumpling mixture into the liquid. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

:D:D DD1 came for tea unexpectedly and there was only enough stew, potatoes and veg for three so I remembered what my mum used to do. Good old fashioned doughballs - enough to help stretch the meal to be ample for four!! 1and half mugs flour, 1and a half oz of margarine, salt and pepper. rub marg into flour and seasoning and mix to stiff dough with water. roll into balls and then put on the top of the stew for about 20 mins. Mmmmm lovely

  • Never heard them called doughballs - we call them dumplings in this house, but they are yummy!

They're dumplings here, too ;) (doughballs are made from bread dough, and we have them with garlic butter :D ).

I'll add this to the dumpling thread to keep ideas together.
