repair wwork by broadband provider

We had some work done by our provider in july cos the internet connection kept breaking off. At the time they said if the fault was our equipement we would have to pay, if it was theirs they wouldn't bill us. Heard nothing from them until yesterdays bill arrived, lo and behold they billed us for it almost 6 months later! Naturally we are not happy. The question is how long should they take to bill us for this work as i feel 6 months is too long. Where do i stand legally?

  • talktalk are our provider. Yes they came to the house repaired the fault which was the phone socket and not heard from them for months, until we checked our bill last week. Had higher charge and when we queried it, they said it was for the work done months ago.Can they do this without first telling us that they were going to take the money?

TalkTalk are well known for the accuracy of their billing and their customer service is legendary.

What socket was replaced? If it was the master socket then that isn't your responsibility so you should dispute the charge. Given this is TalKTalk I'm not all that sure how well you will get on though. There's a reason they are cheap.
