Fed up with o2

Basically im in the last 3 months of my contract, ive spent enough money to be in the gold reward tier which would mean im able to upgrade 3 months early however ive been told that its invitation only and even though ive spent enough they wont allow me to become gold!!

It doesnt state this on the website and im not happy, i dont want to pay the rest of my contract and im wondering if i go to vodafone, orange, t-mobile etc woud they buy out my contract for me in exchange for my custom? thanks.

The networks themselves won't buy you out (that could start all kinds of a war between them!), but some of the third party dealers might...

Don't quite understand about you wanting to upgrade 3 month early if you really want to leave? Even if you could upgrade at the -3 month point that doesn't mean you can end the contract 3 months early. You'd still have to pay the contract off up to the end of the minimum term.
  • Is this the reason you're fed up with O2 or is there more to it?

If this is the only reason and you're happy to stay with O2 then it should be easy enough to get the early upgrade as long as you remain calm and polite, login to o2.co.uk and add up your last 12 bills, if they come to over £720 then you should be a gold customer, it's not invitation only, it's all automated and you don't get any sort of notification when you move between tiers. If you're last 12 bills come to over £720 then call up O2 and have a friendly chat with them, mention that you've looked at your bills and that it shows that you should be priority gold, see if the CSA agrees then get them to have a word with upgrades, if upgrades say no then while remaining calm and polite say that you'd like to speak to their manager, you most likely wont get to speak to them, but they'll go the their manager and the chances are he or she will authorise it and manually change your upgrade date. The trick's to get the advisor on your side, if you come across as an !!! or if your last 12 bills are under £720 then you're unlikely to get very far.

Look at it this way - you have some haggling power with O2 as an existing customer spending money with them. You have none with a new network, although you would be eligible for any cashback company's new customer deals.

Is 3 months early renewal so absolutely vital???????????

Your account gets reviewed usually once a year.. calling upgrades won't do anything as they can't change a priority listing tier, they'll just tell you it changes when reviewed and nothing can speed this up.

While they can't change a priority listing they can however authorise early upgrade if it's something they should be getting anyway.

It's not something that they "should" be getting - it's a gesture of goodwill that they offer early upgrades with the priority listing and is only available when reviewed. Most, if not all will say to callback after their review date.

Is it definitely once a year then?

At the moment I am on the Gold tier (3 month early upgrade) which would mean I could upgrade in April.

I did a bit of maths with my bills and worked out that if I want to stay within their £720+ band, I'd need to spend £80 for the next two months.

I was only moved to Gold in October, so I should be ok without increasing my spend drastically before April... am I right?
