Don't be tempted to take out a traders policy, as soon as you make a claim they will request physical proof you are a trader. When you can't provide this they will decline your claim.

So 'become' a trader... heres the form: link

if you want to be super legit buy a cheap vehicle from the auctions once a year and stick it on ebay, you'll probably even make a few quid

Buying one car a year would not qualify you as a motor trader with most motor trade insurers. With the advent of the MID they would be writing to you within the first two months of the policy starting asking why you have not declared any purchases to the MID. If the explanation is not satisfactory they simply cancel the insurance

If they do decide to pay out, they'll pay you the trade price normally, not the forecourt price. So if you car is a new one, you'll be a few thousand worse off.

I have the V6 insured with Adrian Flux- it's on limited mileage, on a specialist plan- worth trying Lum, as it's only just past ten years old. The coupes are on unlimited mileage, one is my main car. With two named drivers, the insurance works out fairly cheap per car in total.
  • i have three policys

2 have mirrored no claims so a claim on either will affect both

the other is a limited mileage classic jobby with about 1000 miles a year max so that pretty cheap the car did 14 miles last year lol

Mirrored no claims - that sounds interesting. Tell me more. I looked into buying a second car then realised you could only claim NCB on one car so starting a new policy would have cost more than the second car!
  • IT WAS WITH A COMPANY CALLED HIC BUT I THINK THIS WILL BE MY LAST YEAR LIKE IT AS ADRIAN FLUX BOUGHT THEM OUT AND THEY SUCK

the thing that made me laugh is the guy on the phone said "you can only use one car at a time"

i thought thats a pain i was gonna try driving them both together lol

they used to do a policy for weekend cars as well so i would have my daily runner insured for week driving and the other one became insured for theft but wasnt allowed to be driven and then at the weekend it switched round.
