Insuring more than one car, any tips.
Hi,
Luckily, or greedily as you might say, i own two cars. Both only driven by me, and of course one at a time. Does anyone know of anywhere you can get a good deal on insuring them. I kind of resent paying two full insurance policies. One is parked in the drive, the other garaged.
I'd also be happy to have a clause saying they will only pay out on theft for one.

Try Admiral multicar come out with some great deals. Well have for my cars (albeit insured with two separate drivers). Don't know how itll work tho with only being able to use your NCB with one car at a time though.
Ps its not greedy, would own 10 if I could afford it0 -
Can the 2nd car be insured on a classic, specialist or limited mileage policy? This may be cheaper than a multi car or fleet type deal.0

I'm after this, but the few I've found say that 17yrs old isn't old enough. Can you recommend any?
My main car is a company car, which may complicate matters.0 -

Things have changed. It used to be just ten years.
I had a car insured with a classic policy while my main car was company owned. Owners clubs can sometimes help with special insurance deals.0 -
There is no owners club for my car, hence why I'm after specific companies that might be able to help?0

If there are any forums that are specific to the car(s) they may have site sponsors that can do a good deal.
I did this when I bought my second car - transferred the full NCD to this then had to start again with my first car. Got an 'introductory deal' from a site sponsor for the Skoda of 3 years NCD.
I looked at Admiral but they would have been much more expensive. As said above if you can do limited mileage on one of the cars it does make it cheaper.

I have tried the multicar policys for a quote and they couldnt save me any great deal, at the moment i have two cars a classic car and two bikes insured all with seperate policys.
I few freinds of mine have traders policys which allow them to drive any amount of cars and they keep telling me it would be cheeper but i just cant bring myself to lie to get a policy when i am not a trader.
The classic car is the most powerfull car i have and is also the cheepest to insure go figure0 -
Admiral Multicar, Direct Line and Primo Plc are about the only ones you can really use. You don't have enough vehicles for a family fleet policy. There are policies available which will cover you for your vehicles and other vehicles but these are for high net worth vehicles. The man without a signature.0

i use a-plan. as they can give me specialist off road insurance for the land rover.0 -

Don't be tempted to take out a traders policy, as soon as you make a claim they will request physical proof you are a trader. When you can't provide this they will decline your claim.
Your friends policy is unlikely to cover him for absolutely any car if he trades from home. If he is not a trader he has a very nasty surprise when he makes a claim as the companies that offer these policies are nasty companies and they do not like to pay out claims so go through each claim very thoroughly.0
