Printer wont print

When a Printer is attached to the system it should go from almost grayed out to a solid colour, if you do have two identical ones and one is solid while the other is grayed out and is set to default, delete the prints waiting to be printed then delete the printer, then go to the solid printer and right hand click and set as default (and also check it reports "Online" and not use "Offline"
No only one printer which says ready not off line ( I did manage to have 3 there the other night but un-installed all of them then re-installed from disk then updated as it wasn't working straight from the disk install.
forever insane....have just done that...still doesn't work
Debitcardmayhem......tried first link says: fix it set up encountered an error
An unexpected error has occured. Please close and try and run set up again later.. have tried again with the same problem.
2nd link says: the trouble shooter does not apply to this computer, I have tried this one when I first had problems and get the same response every time
Diable: trying to locate another lead, I know I had one just dont know where at the moment, looked last night but no joy..
Thanks everyone for your help so far I think I have tried everything that everyone has kindly suggested so far.
Interestingly there is a thread appeared today that says lexmark has the ability to stop a printer working with ink cartridges that are not lexmark when you update.. not sure if that affecting it or not as I buy refill for them.
Not sure If I go and get another printer I will have the same problem if its something to do with the computer rather than the printer??0 -
AH Bugga. Just typed a long list of have you tried and hit the wrong button!!!!!!
Try CTRL+P and make sure that it is the right printer, still on-line and not printing to file
Make sure the USB drivers are ok. Device manager and/or different device
Try printing from admin account- Lexmarks are serious for not showing error messages in some user accounts. Or service required message
Check to make sure that all the cartridges have been recognised(compatibles and re-manufactured ones especially)
If you've already tried all these a full un-install might be the answer- un-install + reg clean and any lexmark folder on pc. This link might prove useful

I wouldnt do all of it, just clear all evidence of Lexmark and re-install
Had experience of Lexmarks in the last place I worked and they were a total nightmare if they started to act up!
If all else fails- Hammer ! New printer !

I'm pretty sure thats illigal since you own the printer. They can't force you to use Lexmark own brand ink.Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

I wouldnt put it past them though. Manufacturers have tried to prohibit use before e.g chipped cartridges. But I have tried installing compatibles on an all-in-one where I had to use the screen on printer( no software installed through drivers onto pc, as there usually is) and it would not accept them. Kept giving the usual "non lexmark" error with no options to continue2017 WINS

Well I have refills in there not the genuine lexmark cartridge and it works, ( well colours do, I copied 36 pages on the copier part the other day and must have run out the black, so hopefully once I change it it will still be working.)0
