Printer wont print

Hi,
After various problems that I have sorted my printer still wont, print, I have un-installed i and then re-installed the software, it says its ready to print, the computer seems to think that it has printed as there is no backlog of print jobs waiting, I can scan and test pages from the printer direct print but that's it, any idea on what I can try now please?

Here is their page for the X3650, their live chat when it's open is worth considering, there is a link on the page for that

    http://support.lexmark.com/index?segment=SUPPORT&userlocale=EN_UK&locale=en&productCode=LEXMARK_X3650&page=product&frompage=null#1
  • I also have the x3650. Looks nice and is cheap for an all-in-one but sprays ink out like a power hose.

Are you sure you have the correct printer selected? You can try sending an email through their site HERE!

And if you get it working, go to http://www.inksaver.com/ and trial their ink saver. Set it to 50%. Stops ink flying out and images prints still look nice, although a little faded. You can tamper with the % and print out a guide.

Is there an option for a self test printout?

yes, on the actual printer and it prints..

Santa: Tried the online help......but there was no one there... will try again tomorrow

Forever insane: I emailed them this morning....just waiting for a reply..Not had any problem with spraying before, always worked fine until I had a virus and getting rid of that deleted some file, that took me ages to sort, the print spooler was not running due to no file, sorted all of that and thought I had cracked it but it all looks like its set up but still doesn't work

Not sure if its the printer or the computer at fault..

I un-installed, then put the cd that came with it, then updated from the lexmark site so I think everything is as it should be.

Thanks for your help so far.

Might try ringing lexmark tomorrow see if they can sort it out..

Printer self tests so have you swapped the usb lead to the printer or have tried the cable in other USB ports?
  • Might as well try Msoft fixit from here http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal or here http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/

Takes little time and nothing ventured nothing lost ;)
It may be a problem with spoolserver but these links may help.

  • Take out an ink cartridge and put it back in. The PC should (hopefully) detect an ink change and ask if you want to test print. See if test printing from the PC does anything.

Gak, even when uninstalling a printer (I assume you mean the software) it still leaves the printer set as default, try going into the control panel then printers and see whats there, chances are theres at least two identical X3650 and one will be set as default and have a long print line, and probably register as "Offline"

When a Printer is attached to the system it should go from almost grayed out to a solid colour, if you do have two identical ones and one is solid while the other is grayed out and is set to default, delete the prints waiting to be printed then delete the printer, then go to the solid printer and right hand click and set as default (and also check it reports "Online" and not use "Offline"
