Monthly food shop

Hi Victory
I tried the monthly shop/buy one get one free - to 'put away' for next week. The problem wasn't so much the biscuits/crisps/snacky type foods as these could be hidden away, but the fridge goodies - cheese, yoghurts, cooked meats etc. I think it just encouraged them to eat more  It was a false economy, so I gave up in the end. :rotfl:

PS It wasn't just the kids, H was just as bad! It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.:kisses3:0 -
As a child of a mother who hid things I would really recommend not hiding food if you can help it.
We always found the snacks and rubbish and took to hiding when eating the stolen snacks which wasn't healthy at all!! I can totally understand why you'd want to try hiding bits, I even understand why my mum used to do it (although I didn't at the time, obviously) but if you can go down the 'once it's gone, it's gone' or the handing out snack routes then I'd personally think that may be a better option.
Good luck0 -
Blimey, don't I sound draconian? Sorry....[/QUOTE]
:rotfl: :rotfl: You sound just like me!!!
Yes maybe it is just novelty as it has only happened this month and last so it should quieten down. I am going to do the help yourself to bread and crackers and fruit if you are hungry, I reckon they will soon get bored with that and settle down.
I know bambam, thought of giving up but work wise have less time so was thinking about online shopping once a week but then I am just putting on more work load for myself when all my kids need to do is get some restraint!!!:D
It really is the fridge contents as all else can be moved, the freezer contents are safe!:rotfl:
Going to look for some hard to open tupperware boxes, many thanks for all the advice and replies, very much appreciated xxxxx0 -
My mum (once i had moved out) wanted to slow down the rate of food dissapearing in the house - she put a lock on 1 fridge (they had 2) and locked away snacks in a box under her bed. Me and my husband thought at the time it was extreme but our 4 yr olds demands are making us realise its quite a good idea!0

If your kids are not overweight or appearing to be going that way, perhaps they are just genuinely hungry.
Is it fair to fill the house with goodies and then restrict their natural wish to eat them?
Not on anyone's side, having just grabbed a bag of crisps and a couple of biscuits myself to stave off hunger pangs until supper, I can empathise with the children in this situation.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

no kids not over-weigh, food starved or anything, I think it is just novelty at the moment and 'boredom', early dark nights, in all the time now instead of out playing so they 'pick' all the time, am not bothered so much about that, it is just the frequency and unnecesary constant amount they take and eat!!! xxx0
