In South Africa you get four way stops at crossroads and you take it in turns to make your manouvre, much more civilised.
canada is the same, you get four ways and 3 ways. first car to stop is the first car to go. everyone works them properly.
i could just imagine them over here,it would be carnage, nobody would stop.
other countries take stop signs very seriously, you must come to a complete standstill. i remember we got pulled over in florida a few years back for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, even although the road was clear you must still stop.
over here folk think stops signs just mean give way....work permit granted!0 -

They mean you must Stop here as well, it is just that our coppers seem to not have the same bad attitude as Yankee coppers.

think the secret to driving in london is have the tattiest looking car possible its like having a sheild around you all the flash cars let you pull out and let you cut them up they almost bow down to the banger0

So is turning right at red lights.
I agree, though not every state allows it. It would be turning left here, of course. In the US if two or more vehicles arrive at the X roads at the same time, you give way to the right. Seems to work very well.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
I've always thought 4way stops just feel wrong to someone who has learned to drive and driven mostly in the UK. I can see how they would work if you were used to them from the start, though.0

If your sat at the junction and there is a car at the opposite junction whos right of way is it.
I was turning right at them and the guy opposite was going straight on. We both did the hesitate to let each other go thing then the both set off at the same time etc etc.
Ive always wondered this but its never actually happened to me before
For the love of god, have you not passed a test?
Its really easy. The person turning right has the LEAST right of way. Anyone going straight on or turning left in their direction has priority over those turning right.0 -
