Hi All,
my DD1 (19) and her boyfriend want to go to Cuba in July for 2 weeks. I have never been before myself so cannot advise her.
They want to go all inclusive and were thinking of booking through thompson.
I just want to know if anyone has any tips on where is nice there etc and where to avoid or just any other tips at all! Also whether it would be cheaper to book through someone else other than thomson. They just want to pay a low deposit for now.
Many thanks in advance

My Annual Worldwide travel insurance policy excludes Cuba as a destination. It makes me wonder, why?0

They have a better health service than many other countries in the developed world but you'll probably have to pay if anything goes wrong.0 -
Thanks very much for your replies. She doesn't mind paying £150 for now but doesn't really want to pay more than that at the mo.
There was a 3/4* (sorry can't remember which or which resort)! for about £850 which I thought wasn't a bad price.

You may find post #3 here helpful concerning the different resorts:

We went to Cayo coco, which was lovely but very quiet. I would say Varadero would be a bit livelier.
We enjoyed it and would go back, pick a good hotel though like an iberostar or Melia."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
We went in July last year had a brilliant holiday. We stayed in Guardalavaca all inclusive in the Brisas. We enjoyed it and it was quite a reasonable price.we flew from Manchester with Thomas Cook.
It is on the beach and the staff are really friendly. I loved Cuba and would go back in a minute the people are brilliant and very welcoming.0 -
Brisas Guardalavaca is gorgeous, I've been there 5 times! It is quiet and has a lovely beach, there are bars and restaurants around and your not stuck in the middle of no where like you are with some hotels in Cuba.
The people are friendly and the place is clean. I had no problem with my insurance, didn't need any jabs at all.
If you can afford a little extra to pay for the villas instead of the hotel then its worth it as the rooms are massive!0 -
It's such a pity to go to Cuba and just want to stay in an AI resort.
We went a couple of years back and easily booked an itinerary staying at 5 places, inc Trinidad, Havana and finishing off with 5 days at Breezes Jibacoa, hiring a car for the days up to Brezes and travelling around the island quite a bit.
We wanted, and got, a real flavour of Cuba and had a memorable time.
We booked through a specialist travel agent, who did everything except car hire. We booked car hire and some specialist guides from a guy we found off the tripadvisor forums (Cuban national) who was great. Virgin flights from LGW were excellent, also.0
