Car keeps cutting out
Options
Does anyone know what may be wrong with my car? Is is a 52 Reg Ford Fiesta and when I slow down it just cuts out and I have to start it again, it has reached a point that I can no longer drive it, anyone have any idea what the problem may be and most importantly, is it an expensive problem

Is it cutting out or is it stalling when you take your foot off the accelerator to slow to a stop? (ie: you need to keep your foot on the accelerator to keep the revs up to prevent it stalling?)0

It does not stall at all, it just cuts out.. When I slow down it just cuts out, so yes, I guess I need to keep my foot of the accelerator it keep it running.0 -
What engine does it have?
The old school 1.3 petrols have a well known problem with this and a clean of the idle air control valve (with brake cleaner) usually fixes it. If not replace the part.

Fuel filter? I had some very old micra's that did this...0

Yeah fuel filter was my first thought. Worth getting it checked out.0

Thanks, if it is a fuel filter, can we clean it ourselves or do we need to take it to a mechanic? If we can do it ourselves can someone explain how?
Thanks for your help guys xx

A good clean of throttle body and idle air control valve will cure it.
Google it and there should be info on how to do it.
Doubt it is fuel filter as if it was blocked enough to cause cutting out it would surely bog down/cut out accelerating under load0 -
Here is a DIY guide with pictures.
