No, you won't need to speak. There's usually a chatbox option where you might need to respond to or ask questions.

    That's great, many thanks :)

Would anyone know how long does the exam take to be emailed to you, on the day of the exam(today, or so it says)?
I've found myself waiting patiently since 9am PST today an nothing has come as yet. <sigh>
Any more toe tapping and I'll wear out my socks! lol

Can someone tell me how Lionbridge stacks up against Appen and Leapforce?

    Leapforce > Lionbridge >>>>>> Appen.

LF & LB are kinda the same, but I have much preferred working for Leapforce. Appen, blegh.

    imo :o

Had no real problems with LB until the final 2 weeks of my contract when I found myself on review. Suddenly went from lots of contact to hearing nothing at all and not having a clue what was going on. Overall, the experience was pretty good though. Nice variety of different tasks, good availability of work most of the time, plus the webinars were actually helpful and sometimes fun to listen to. The minimum of 10 hours per week (I think?!) also suited me quite well, and it wasn't as if you got in trouble it you weren't able to meet it one particular week. In fact, my sister did zero work for about a month and they blocked her account, but re-opened it straight away when she emailed them asking for another chance.

After my LB contract came to an end, I applied for LF but never got to work for them as they !*&$ed up my exam. Probably the worst company I've ever had anything to do with, no response to about 5 emails, then eventually a stupid, one-line reply which just wasn't professional at all. Obviously most people on that thread have had a completely different experience, but just letting you know mine.

So, if I had a choice I would prefer to work for LB again. Really don't understand why THAT thread is so much more active than this one, to be honest. They do seem to be able to offer quite a lot of hours though, but as I haven't worked for LB recently, I don't know what the current situation is there to be able to compare.

    I think it's once a month.

I'm sure when they do review I'll be let go.

Well to my surprise, the review was good, however, a little frustrated as in the last 2 weeks, I've only managed to get about 3 & 1/2 hours paid work, I check all day & evening most days, every 15 minutes or so, & I'm now so used to getting NTAs, its becoming a genuine surprise if I get a task, then I put in far more time, than I can actually bill for.

Does anyone know if there is a cap on new workers? I'm becoming worried that if I don't make the 40 hours over the month, I'll be let go.

To blubbbiz, I have the Guidelines pdf. open all the time & use the 'find' function. Take your time as accuracy is more important than speed, once you get the accuracy down you will speed up. (although probably not enough to meet their metrics... impossible :()

Lack of work is universal - they can't penalise you for not doing the hours when the work isn't there to do.

I have worked for all 3 and Appen wins hands down. Regular work, paid for training, but they are strict. LB is a close second, but a few years since I worked for them. LF is dire so far, but only passed the exam a few weeks ago. No work and expected to do unpaid training on top of the unpaid exam.

For present raters whats LB like at the moment? Regular daytime work or not? Thinking of appying to LB as no work with LF at the moment. Has anyone gone from LB to LF?

Appen is pants. They say they will pay you for time spent on the exam IF you pass it. Then when you pass it they tell you before you can start work you have to complete 20 HOURS unpaid work within 5 days. If you don't do it/fail to meet their ridiculously high expectations you get nothing, zilch, nada.

You won't be able to go back to LB now you have done the exam/are working for LF. They don't like that (unless it has been 1+ year since you last worked for either.) Plus you can bet if LF work is lacking, so is LB's...seeing as it all comes from the same place.
