  • Hi,

I use a Smile account and they don't have any charges. I get an email from lion to say i have been paid, then a few days later it turns up in my account. You don't get to choose when, so whatever day the money comes in, the bank uses that days exchange rates.

    Hi

First post here. I have done the lionbridge exam last week and just found out last night that I passed! My question is regarding the best UK bank account to use for the payment?

Is there one that you don't get charged for using? And do they all just automatically convert euro to GBP when it's put into the account or is it up to the account holder to decide when is best to convert it regarding interest rates etc?

    Complete beginner to all this!

    Many thanks for any info.

    Good luck my friend.

It depends what type of person interviews you.

Lukily I was interviewed by a don't care type a few days later at another firm, they did'nt ask many questions. They confirmed I got the job today. :D
    Congratulations!!

  • Hi,
Can someone tell me how you get paid. I've had my invoice, is there a long wait then till the money goes into my account? Or do I need to do anything?
    Thanks

Payment is usually on 12th of each month ... takes 3 working days to transfer by bank so usually will reach your account on or around 15th.

Payment is automatic. You should also receive an email telling you payment has been made and the amount, again sent around 12th of each month.

Hi, I have had an email confirming I may be a suitable candidate and sent a load of information to review and agree to before being put forward to the exam stage. Just a couple of quick questions, from reading through the posts I understand there is a maximum contract length with LB, is this the case with Leapforce? Are there many differences between the two? Thanks

    Hi all,

is working for Lionbridge or Leapforce a taxable income?

Is it actually classified as a job? Do they become your employer?

The reason why I ask is I am currently not working due to an illness. I cannot work more then 16 hours a week and earn more then £99.50 a week otherwise I will loose the benefits I am claiming.

I came across Lionbridge and seems like a great way of earning some extra cash but I guess if its a proper job I would need to let the job center know.

    Thanks,
    C

Both companies take you on as a self employed contractor which means that you are responsible for sorting out your own tax etc. You are expected to work between 10 - 20 hours a week but in quiet periods you will do less hours and when there's a lot of work you can do more. Because they pay you in euros/dollars the amount you earn can be dependent on current exchange rates

Can I ask a question regarding the application. I looked at this, but don't think I would fit their criteria. I don't have a degree and because I have been a SAHM for about 6-7 years the only work I have done recently is online text writing so wouldn't have much of a CV.

Can you apply and just do a test to prove what you can do? Or do you have to have a full CV and degree to even stand a chance?

    Do you need references?

    Thanks for any pointers.

After some answers over on the LF thread from peeps who had previously been with LB I decided to give it a punt and applied.

    Wish me luck lol.

  • I am in a similar situation (no degree or recent work experience) and I was accepted to take the exam (starting today!). Good luck!
