    Hey,

Which Tesco was this in? Has anyone seen these anywhere around Liverpool area?

    Cheers
  • Great price and enough to pay, as in my experience hamsters have the life expectancy of a bubble! ;)

I had hamsters as a kid and they always lived to about 2 years.

I admit to being flippant. We did have one that lasted till it was two, but we lost two others within the first few days. The one that lasted we got from a breeder who advertised in our local pet shop and we had to wait untill they were old enough. The other two we bought from Pets at Home because the kids didn't want to wait. Lesson learned!
  • My hamster lived for about two years and three months.

How big was the cage in Tesco?

Sometimes the cages sold by supermarket retailers aren't big enough for a Syrian Hamster to live in so just be careful when you buy it :)

I agree with that, but some of the cages sold in Petshops aren't big enough either.:)
  • if that is the cage in the link for sale, please think twice about welfare of your hamster, i think it would be ideal maybe for the smaller hamster types, but very cruel for anything bigger like a syrian hamster, also, the wheel with the cage provided isn't merely big enough for a syrian either, i have the savic hamster heaven cage (£100) and even my hamster is pretty big in that and it seems to be about 10 times as big as the one in the link.
only plucked up the courage to make an account november 2010. looking to spend many more years(the rest of my life) on here moneysaving!

Mine didnt, I took it to show and tell at school and on the way home it escaped out the cage and I stepped on it whilst walking along  that was a sad sad day, I had to tell my mum it fell off the top story of its house and died or she would have beat me more than usual :D

Yes mum if your reading this, I killed snowy

I bought a Silent Spinner wheel from Pets at Home for my hamster. It has a stand but you can also attach it to the bars too. It's a bigger and more silent model.

You can look at forums like Hamster Hideout for advice on cages. They do have MSE ideas where you can convert old plastic storage boxes or fish aquarium tanks into cages for your hamster :D.
