Default Removal

in Credit cards
I have a default that was added on the 13/01/2005. This should be removed from my credit file today or tomorrow. Will this be removed automatically or will I need to ask experian or equifax to remove it?

    By law it should be gone tomorrow.

    No - defaults will disappear automatically 6years after they were entered.

    settled or not, it doesnt matter it will drop off 6 years from the date of entry, give or take a few days.

    It should be removed automatically, but this doesn't always happen. Check it and if it hasn't you will have to query the item through the CRA website or send them a letter

    It's gone from Experian but not from Equifax!!

    I've seen equifax be upto a week or so late with default removals in the past :o
