    I think I've seen these at the DIY store. Is it simply a case of unscrewing the old ones and then screwing on the new ones? Or is it more complex than that? Do I need to call in a CH fixer.

    It is more complex. You need to drain down the system and remove the whole fitting and fit the new one. My OH could (has) done this, but if you are not into DIY then you need a plumber. (or maybe a heating engineer)
