Plusnet price promise

I received an offer through land mail, from BT promising 18months broadband for £5 month.(I am with F2S presently)
I read up my Which? magazines & saw the customer satisfaction for BT was low. Plusnet scored well.
On the Plusnet site it states "We will not be beaten on price"
So I called up. They stated that this was a "retention deal" & they would not beat it.
I thought this was illegal. Any comments-I would just like a reasonable deal rather than pursue them. But...........

Part of the price promise is -You need to be able to show our sales team where you found the cheaper price and it must be available publicly.
From what you've said, it seems as you've been targeted by BT with an offer, therefore it can't be seen as available to everyone.Dave. :wave:0 -
I too was rejected by Plusnet for a price promise match.
I quoted the Primus offering (£11 line + £4.99 B/B = £15.99)
Plusnet response:
" Our 'Won't be beat on Price' motto refers to standalone broadband, ie broadband on its own. It doesn't take into account line rentals or telephone packages"
I'm now considering moving to Primus, so any comments about their service and customer service welcomed.....0
