Work out the total yearly cost, you'll almost always find it's cheaper to NOT get the gift but to it seperatly.

Looking at e2save the cheapest phone with a Xbox 4gb with connect is a £25.54 for 24 months (there are a few phones at that price) thats £613 for the 2 years. For the same price you can get a much better phone if you forgo the gift or you could get the same phone and a cashback that halves the cost. The e2save Automatic cashback gives you £320 back, which would pay for the xbox and Kinect and a few games.
