good luck with that.. last item I posted that got damaged (value was 29.99£) we got offered 6 x 1st class stamps.. with a letter saying we should have paid for insurance on the item!

If Smyths have proof of posting, which they may well have, and proof of the value of the contents (which again they may have) then you should be able to claim up to the larger amount (value of the 100*1st class stamps)?

I can't see that clause on the Royal Mail site...and although it's irrelevant now, I'm intrigued to know this - do you have a link please?

I would imagine the Smyths vouchers would have an unique code on them? if those codes were recorded before the vouchers were sent out then maybe those vouchers can be cancelled by Smyths so the crooks can't use them.
