I didn't need a loyalty card to connect in Starbucks in NYC last July.

Ahh well thing is i have mine on auto connect so may have assumed that it was logging itself in as I have a loyalty card account doodah set up on my phone, never really thought about it and assumed it was the same set up as the UK

Some of the bigger hotel chains still don't offer it for free, but I have always been able to pick up a signal from somewhere or another, usually the hotel next door ... ;)
    Gone ... or have I?

I was in NYC last week, and used wifi in Starbucks with no card or anything else.

They even had wifi in the Diesel store on 5th Ave for bored people accompanying their OHs...
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

    Thank you for that assurance.

Can't wait now! Having a wifi on Iphone helps greatly to keep phone costs down when on holiday, as long as you can connect to ineternet somewhere!!

Starbucks loyalty card needs to be registered. best thing is to get a card in the Uk. put some money on and register it online at home on your PC.
    have fun.
