Strange that in 1993 when I called the DLA office about my claim they told me specifically to put down about my worst day
I think thaere's a difference between giving info about your worst day, and not indicating that you're only that bad on x days out of 7.

It does make it very difficult to do the forms! lots of detail needed.

I was told, many years ago by DWP to use 'worst day' scenario.

when I filled in my form ten years ago I was told to put down worst days - but at that time the form was much shorter! only about 28 pages!

the form is so hard to fill in - its far too specific about minutes, hours etc each day/night and for those with variable conditions it does not take into account that bad days can mean 24 hour care while 'good' days mean minimum or no care required. you try working out an average on that! or that on a good day you may be able to walk a mile - a bad day may mean being confined to bed or the sofa. or that some mental conditions mean that while you are capable of doing something, you cannot do it because mentally you either dont care enough, or feel overwhelmed just by the thought of it! even something as simple as getting a cup of tea!

I agree. On another forum I post, there are many posts where people tell others to do their forms on their worst day. I once pointed out this is fraud. To which someone replied "it's only fraud if you say you need more help than you do" er...

There's plenty of people on here who tell people to do that.

That's why the rules need tightening up now; things have been very lax in the past.

There have been several posts on this board suggesting that the DLA form should be filled in explaining how you are on your worst days only, rather than giving a balanced view of your care and mobility needs. This has now been confirmed in a court case as incorrect.

That has always been one of the worst pieces of advice I have seen, when it comes to filling in the DLA forms.

It should never be filled in based only on your worst days and this proves that it would be very foolish to do so.

It's usually obvious to the DM if you do fill it in on your worst day, I think.

I hate the DLA forms with a vengence!! The questions seem to be geared mainly towards physical disabilities, rather than sensory.

I'm deaf every single day - how much "help" I need simply depends on what I'm doing that day.

But sensory disabilities are physical disabilities. There will always be (regardless of disability) questions that don't apply to you.

Have to admit I havent seen one of the longer forms, so maybe it does ask questions that are relevant now. I just remember when I filled it in, I struggled to find any part that I could actually complete.
