Heating on full and radiators only warm!

Hi everyone,

We have an old boiler which has a back boiler behind the fire. When the heating is on full, the radiators are only heating up so they are warm, not hot so the house is always cold and costing for not much heat :-(. This is in every room, although the living room is warmer due to the back boiler.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what it can be, or is fixable, or would we be as well saving up for a new central heating system.

Simple things to check,

1). Air in the radiators and/or pump
2). Faulty pump or set at to slow speed
3). Radiator valves not set or balanced correctly
4) System has sludge slowing down the circulation - need flushing

At the moment i am trying to balance the radiators to see if this helps and i will also try the other things you suggest. Here's hoping!
