  • Glad to see this thread is still going. It really doesn't take any time at all to send an e-mail or card or small gift. I have had a reply from one of the kid's mums and it really does emphasise how you can bring a smile to people who are so much worse off than yourselves.
  • Would something like the shoebox appeals be ok? I have lots of bits and bobs i have collected in the sales and i thought that maybe a shoe box gift for a birthday or for xmas 2007 would be a good idea?

  • Hi S76 - That kind of thing is eactly what they need. Obviously, you have to check the stuff is age suitable and also that it fits their needs (some may be visually impaired/find it hard to use their hands etc) but it's basically anything that would cheer them up.

Things I have sent include kids jewellery, stickers, activity books, colouring books (tend to be v heavy to send I find though), cuddly toys, bouncy balls, etc.

There is a tlc page where it lists pals who are in need of some extra smiles for the month, but if you go to the stats page you can also see who hasn't had much post throughout the month.

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the tips.
I have some great ideas for some boxes my little girls 2 and 4 are well excited about making other children smile. The reason i put xmas 2007 is cause i think that would be a nice thing too as there are many chidren becoming ill day after day and i just thought it would be something my children could do alongside the shoebox appeals.
My eldest has chosen a little girl who shares her exact birthday. She has chosen lots of nice things for her from pens sets to hair grips and bits of girlie makeup.

this is most deffinitly a worthy cause and i will be doing my bit wherever i can

  • Hi strawbs I think that's a lovely thing for your children to do. It is such a good project and very worthwhile. Happy posting! =)
  • hiya, im looking for some help with a little project. for it you select a pal (so we no one gets the same card twice) and once a week for 6 weeks i send a card via email which you just hit print (onto normal a4 paper), sign your name and pop in the post. it really is a case of hitting print and sending once a week. if anyone could help/would like to do it then please shout :D Love viks
