dodgy garage?

You will find the reason he is fobbing you off is because he would rather make money out of MOT`s and servicing, rather than fix your car for free. So the longer he can put you off, the more money he makes. He is also hoping eventually you will just give up.
I had a similar problem a few years back with a £12,000 Ducati motorcycle I had. Engine blew up after 400miles from new. So, back to the garage to fix under warrenty. But, unfortunately for me, it was the start of the summer season, so the garage took 4 months to repair my motorbike as they were too busy with MOT`s and servicing rather than do a warrenty repair. I wish id had taken it to my local bike mechanic who told me he could have fixed it within 48hours, but because it was under warrenty I thought id take it to the correct garage.0 -
Why did you not say fix the door and i will buy it? Im sure it would have been done the next day.
Only leave a deposit if they are willing to write a receipt saying it was fully refundable if they dont fix
the car within a few days.
Brakes they could put down to wear and tear if it tooks weeks for any fault to develop.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
i said dodgy because although he said he was waiting for parts from germany the local vw dealers can get them within 1 working day and i have told him this (i went for parts for my car and asked) the brakes started playing up within 100 miles which i think is not really alot of miles for something to go wrong, but i also think that 9 weeks waiting for the door to be fixed is excessive. we did say that we would buy it if the door was working was told it would be on collection only told it wasn't after money exchanged hands.0

The Sale of Goods Act is fairly loosely worded, something along the lines of if something develops a fault within a reasonable period of time depending on the price paid then you can expect a replacement, refund or repair.
Brakes do wear out so I doubt you'll get those sorted but he might agree to do the repair at a discount, if you're not happy then you can go to court and get the lawyers to argue it out but it's not worth the hassle for the cost involved really.
Small claims court for the door repair after writing a letter sounds good advice though.:A0
